Happy Holidays 2003

For us, this past year has been about learning how to be parents and falling in love with our daughter Jasmine.

Jasmine is now 18 months old with 14 teeth and a full head of beautiful curly hair.  For those who have not met her, she is shy in crowds (like her father), but extremely talkative (hmmm, wonder which parent that came from?).  She has a passion for animals and crayons; she is just starting to learn her colors and how to count. She loves looking at the moon and “krispy lites” (translation: Christmas lights).

From Chris

Looking back at the year 2003, I am filled with contentment and gratitude.  I feel so fortunate to have taken the path which led us to have Jasmine, who has brought bliss and laughter to our days.  Every day she does or says something that simply amazes me.

In other areas of my life, I have started doing volunteer work at the local hospital in an effort to try to explore what kinds of jobs I can do with limited use of my hands.  As a volunteer, I find I'm able to do things at my own pace -- at the same time I'm making valuable contacts.       I'm hoping to eventually work my way into a part-time job that will use my health education skills.  We'll see what the cards have in store.

We plan to spend Christmas day with Pat's family in Sacramento.  There'll be almost 30 people there; I imagine it will be reminiscent of "A Big Fat Greek Wedding."  After that we plan to spend some time in Florida, where both of my parents go for the winter.

I’m looking forward to the next year of life. Turning 40 (yikes); spending time with great friends and sharing special moments with Jasmine.  -- Chris

From Pat

For me this was a great year.  Because of the downturn in the local economy, I was fortunate to be able spend lots of time with Jasmine.

Sadly my Aunt Chris passed away after a short illness. We are very grateful that she was able to meet Jasmine and spend some time with her. Also, this summer my father fell ill and I was in Sacramento a lot, helping him recuperate.  The good news is that he has recovered and now has a life recharge.

In the spring I was able to plant my garden.  Jasmine sometimes helped me with the harvests.  When I would return home from Sacramento, she and I would wander out to the garden and taste things.  Jasmine loves to pick and eat “stawboos” (strawberries), peas, plums, apples and peps (peppers).  - Pat

Best Wishes. Hope you can enjoy time with family and friends this holiday season.

Love, Pat, Chris, Jasmine, & Molly
